Touch Newsletter #176

Welcome to the Touch Newsletter #176. On 23 February at Human Resources, Los Angeles, Touch presents Jasmin Blasco, Robert Crouch, Garek Druss, Jake Muir, Yann Novak, Zachary Paul, Geneva Skeen and Byron Westbrook. This concert is the first date in Yann Novak’s tour to promote his forthcoming Touch release “The Future Is a Forward Escape into the Past”. Album pre-orders and European tour dates to be announced on our next newsletter…

On 1 February at Paloma, Berlin, The Tapeworm presents Jay Glass Dubs, Hanno Leichtmann and Marta De Pascalis live. DJ – Bokeh Edwards.

Two new releases by Dale Cornish and Philip Marshall are now available directly from the artists.

Very few copies of FOLIO002, “Touch MOVEMENTS” remain, so order now before this limited edition disappears. David Sylvian writes: "‘MOVEMENTS’ celebrates the continuity of a carefully nurtured and sustained audio/visual aesthetic which, via its publication, could be seen as affirmative action in uncertain times. Thank heavens the likes of Touch still have the gall to propel beautiful things out into the world.”

CARLY#02 | Philip Marshall “Entrain”

Cassette + download – limited edition of 60 copies.

Track List
A1: Tyro
A2: This Is How You Disappear
A3: Atem
A4: Monospace
B1: Contract Five
B2: Mod Two

These tracks were recorded across seven years of in-between days. They were mostly edited during long train journeys — A to B and back again. These tracks were intended at various stages to be: a vinyl 10”; discarded; that difficult fourth album. Work continued. Rare indecision. Focus pulled elsewhere.

‘This Is How You Disappear’ and ‘Mod Two’ were originally commissioned by Alexander Pohnert for his 2013 installation at Shift, Berlin (now: OHM Berlin). ‘Monospace’ uses a live performance at FuturePlaces, Porto in the Autumn of 2013 as its primary source. It was worked up the following year, with ‘Contract Five’ and ‘Tyro’ – outtakes from rehearsals – following soon after. The earliest recordings, documenting the ‘Voiceworks’ project at Guildhall, London, 2011, were the last to be worked on for this edition, resulting in ‘Atem’.

And now it’s time to begin again.
